Why Every Cake Deserves a Little Height
Think about the last celebration you went to.
The lights go down. Someone carries the cake in. Everyone shifts closer, phones come out, and for about ninety seconds the entire room is pointed at one thing.
That moment is the reason the cake exists. Not the taste — that comes later, on a paper plate, half-forgotten. The moment is what people remember, and increasingly, it's what they keep.
So here's a fair question: why do we spend so much on the cake and so little on how it's presented?
The table is doing nothing for you
A flat table does one thing — it holds weight. It doesn't frame anything. It doesn't create a focal point. Set a beautiful cake directly on a tablecloth and it competes with plates, glasses, napkins, someone's car keys.
Height solves this instantly. Lift a cake even 23 centimetres and three things happen at once:
It separates from the clutter. The cake stops being one object among many and becomes the object.
It enters the frame properly. Phone cameras sit at chest height. A cake on the table is shot from above, flattened. A cake on a stand is shot straight on — which is how you actually see it.
The table reads as planned. Nobody consciously thinks "ah, elevation." They just get the feeling that someone put thought into this.
Presentation isn't vanity
There's a quiet assumption that caring about presentation is somehow extra. Fussy. Not essential.
But presentation is just a form of care made visible. It's the difference between handing someone a gift in a plastic bag and handing it over wrapped. Same gift. Completely different message.
When you lift a cake, you're saying this moment was worth preparing for.
Where we come in
Nikki Cake Stands started from a simple frustration: cake stands were either expensive glass pieces you were scared to move, or plain plastic that added nothing.
We wanted something with actual character. Shapes that belong to the occasion — a heart for the anniversary, a ring for the proposal, a bow for the shower, bold lettering for the birthday. Something that assembles in seconds, packs flat, and comes back out next time.
Because celebrations repeat. Your stand should too.
More than a stand. Part of the celebration.
